Default Tools

I finally have some more time and will be doing some more maintenance on my bike.
As an engineer in the pumping industry I do own a significant amount of general and specific tools.
Sockets and wrenches from 4mm up to 65mm can be found in my vehicle together with 3 sizes of electronic torque wrenches.
Problem is that I have, due to no need, very few sockets and wrenches in imperial sizes. Now as I do like to, when I do buy, get my hands on quality tools and they are not cheap.
I'm looking to purchase a set of sockets and combination spanners and will be going to a local shop that sells high quality used tools. (industry liquidation, retired engineers etc)
My question is: starting at probably 3/8" how large do I need to go to cover most sizes found on my Ultra? Most sets are up to 7/8" but is that enough?
Thanks guys.

yep, that'll get most everything done, unless you're opening up your primary.

i know on my dyna a few brake caliper bolts are 12pt 1/4 heads, so maybe picking up a 1/4 socket or wrench isn't a bad idea.

also don't forget standard sized hex bits.

TheCruz Tools RTH3 kit contents pretty much covers the tools you need on the road.

Next to that here's here's the tools I use on my 2003 FDX for the regular service jobs.

Metric sizes overview is in the ***dyna models metric sizes database***

Torx bits, AF and metric Allen head bits and L spanners, AF and metric hex sockets:

AF and metric spanner sets:

Circlip plier for inside clips (clutch)

Multi meter for electronics:

Torx T27 bit for derby cover:

Hi Harry, from just up the road. Our Harleys don't use Imperial spanners, but US ones, which are not the same, so unfortunately most of your metric stuff is redundant, although a few of them will be useful. You need A/F inch sized tools and the simplest thing is to buy a set of 3/8" drive sockets, allen keys, open ended spanners and a few ring spanners, or wrenches for our North American audience.

My own sockets go from 1/4" to 1" all 12-point, allen keys up to 3/8", open ended 1/4" to 3/4", rings 7/16" to 11/16". Hope that helps.
