I guess what's got me is that I asked for the emblems when I bought the bike. I was told it didn't come with them. The dealer painted the air box cover, fenders, headlight housing and radiator ends black. It wasn't till I noticed a similar bike that had the embems on it that made me want to put a set on mine. I went to the dealer's parts dept. and was told that there is no way anyone can sell me the 100th emblem if I can't exchange the old ones. I really do want the emblems, but now I'm thinking that it's the principle of it as well. My buddy is a mechanic there and he was the one that put my bike together after it was painted. He told me that they kept the emblems. So I thought that if there was another way to prove they had taken the emblems, I could spare my buddy from catching any flak.
that's cheesy... not get involved [sm=icon_blah.gif]
Sadly though, I do understand. You may mention to the Dealer that you were curious if you were supposed to contact H-D in order to get the wings... if it was a mail order type of thing?
He doesn't need to be involved. What part would he play in you not getting your wings at the purchase of your bike anyway? You check with HD and make sure you should have the wings then, if you should, you go get them. I don't know why your buddy would even be a part of any discussion concerning this.
well, that's kinda hard because the owner of the dealership has one and the service manager has the other hanging over his office door.
Sounds like we know where your wings are.
This is crap. HD dealership you are working with needs to own up. I wouldn't involve your buddy the mechanic, it has nothing to do with him. I would demand that someone make it right though.
The only reason I see the buddy being a part of the conversation, is if he is privy to the damn things being on the bike in the 1st place.
Other than that, he shouldn't be part of the equation.
Let's rethink this...
you post "Dealer stole my wings" and "It was painted black by the dealer"
At this point I'd like to know why your buddy was ever mentioned in the 1st place?
I've got ask WTF is going on?
Either you're being down-right screwed or mistreated as a H-D customer.
Either way, you need to be compensated and made whole!
or you can say "Oh well", "F()#% it", whatever makes you feel better and fogetaboutit.
That made me think some too...not sure but aren't most of the 03s either silver or black? Were they painting a silver one black? They didn't have one in stock or couldn't get one? Sounds kinda fishy.
