Default evo speedo

I hope this may be a quick fix on my evo. I had noticed the 60mph mark to be a little off from top center. I fiddled with it thinking the outer cover/rim might unscrew. When I did so, I found that the whole unit is loose (tripometer **** moves with it) inside the tank housing. I couldn't rotate the unit as I tried to see if it would rotate and center the top hash mark. Is this something I may be able to do myself? I would really like to have the 60mph hash straight up, it kinda bothers me a little bit. But at least have the speedometer tightened up. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get into it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't know your model, but yes there is something you can do. Frankly the simplest way is to buy a factory service manual, which will tell you how to get into the tank housing and all manner of other useful stuff you never realised you should know!

grbrown, Hi, we've conversed over on the evo classic side. Thanks for your input there and here. My question was related to the 95 FLSTN I just bought last week. I thought this would be the best place to ask , maybe back over there would be better? I am buying the service manual, probably the best advice as I become more intimate with the bike.

Hi and while your query is general and likely to relate to any model with a tank speedo, you'll find a lot of help and expertise in the Evo forum. There are many more members call in there and one of them probably did that only last week! That is a guess, but your queries will get more hits there, hence a quicker response (fingers crossed!).
