Default Apes slipping at the clamp...

Anybody out there with apes have a problem with them slipping, forward and back,at the clamp? It is tightened as tight as I can get it, but it still slides with some good force, which can be applied unknowingly at times. Can something be put there to make it grab better?

remove top clamp. position bars by hand where you want them. mark bars and lower clamp (risers). drill into riser for a doll pin. drill thru bar for the pin. install pins in the risers so it sticks up enough to go into the holes you drilled in the bars. install bars onto the pins. replace top clamp.

First loosen all the riser bolts and put it back by alternating a few turns on each bolt until tight. If that doesn't work, get some thin lead sheet (like 1/16" or so) and cut two small strips wrapped around the knurled part of the bars and tighten it all down agian.

Wrap strips of aluminum cut from a beverage can around the bar inside the clamp.

Sometimes I use pieces of old bicycle tire tubes to tighten things up. May or may not work for handlebars.
