Ladies and Gentleman, thank you for taking the time to read this, my name is Drew and recently i bought a 2005 Softail Night Train, and i love it! I did buy it from a Harley dealership, and it was previously owned. The former owner spent a fair chunk of change to build it out the way he liked it, and while i love the bike, I'm not crazy about the aesthetics and the route he took. He seemed to like the long extended fenders. Personally I want to make it a bobber. I looked at the 180 conversion kit by Heartland, and while i think that would be perfect, it's fairly pricey. My question to you folks would be is there any other options that make sense (not too much extra fab work, still accomplishes the same Bobber look and feel). I am not necessarily going to go the strict bobber route, i want a larger front tire, needs a bit more beef to it, and i want to definitely lower the rear end, as low as i can, also comfort does matter so I'm not sure I'll go with the spring seat, and I'm definitely keeping the telescopic front end. Some of the cost of parts will be off set, for instance I have custom front and rear fenders that i'll be selling off after the replacement rear fender comes in.
Are there any other kits available, personally I can't afford a 2000 kit, which is about what the Heartlands would cost. Any input is greatly appreciated. I'm looking for options and for places that are a good start on gathering the stuff on my list.
