Hello!
I want to start a project bike and I have no idea where to start. I know what I want the finished bike to look like. I want an old school mid 60's springer as a tribute to my grandfather and the bike he built. Is it a good idea to start from scratch of to build from an existing bike? I attached the picture of my grandfather and his bike.
to be honest you can have them painted, but to build one will be costly, you might want to try you tube-there is a guy, his channel is called " huntingharleys" he might have one already built you would be able to buy, you can search the net for him as well, he seems like a nice guys, and knows hist stuff
Your grandfather's bike looks like a Duo Glide to me. They can still be bought, with patience, if you want one that looks like that one! This is a similar one, with the same tank paintwork. And here is a closer version, with the disc wheels.
