Default Correct procedure with Loctite...

To adjust the spring clamps on my windshield, I loosened the acorn nuts holding the clamps. I then noticed the screw threads had blue Loctite applied. When re-tightening the nuts, what is the recommend procedure: do I just "re-use" the existing Loctite or should I apply a drop of new Loctite? I realize this application is not really mission-critical but I would like to know the recommended procedure for all cases. Many thanks.

Loc-tite is typically a "one-time" use. Once it's applied and cures, it "bonds" to the threads. So once broke free, it no longer has bonding properties.

To properly reapply, you should remove the fastener, clean the threads, and reapply.

Thanks for the advice and the link - both have been very helpful. And from a fellow Chicago-based person at that. Many thanks again.
