Default New owner question about 10k service

Im new to the HD family, and I recently bought my Ultra from a dealer with 8Kmiles. Is there a need for me to do the 10Kmile "special" service at the next service interval?

Yes it should be done by you or the dealer

Remember as well the harley guys are techs.

You can do just as well as them with a service manual and YouTube for usually way less

And who is going to be more careful? A tech making 17 hr? Or you who is screwed if you mess up.

I trust me more.

I will be going against the flow here. First of all, it depends what the selling dealer did. Some might change all the fluids when they get the bike in, some might even do a 10k at 8k. Ask them.
I have my dealer do the 5k services. If I had an experienced buddy I would love to learn from him. Until then, I like an experienced professional going over my bike and picking out problems that they learned to diagnose. I know many of the posters on here are good, but some people won't admit they have no business learning on a vehicle their life depends on.

People can call me a poser or wallet biker, but I know my limitations. Techs have pointed out when I needed breather hoses or gas couplers, when I would have missed that.

The manual isn't newbie friendly. Many threads where people took the wrong drain plug out, etc..

i would say its just as easy to do it yourself. it all depends on your dealer that you use but i know for a fact that when it comes to a service at my dealer its a lot of money for guys that are working piece work and dont care of the outcome..(usually dont put the right amount of oil in and dont do the adjustments you pay for) 9 times out of 10 they dont know their a** from a hole in the ground.... if you want pro to do it i think you might be better at a local shop that you hear about from word of mouth...
