Default 16" Apes on 2000 Fatboy

Hi,

I have a 2000 Fatboy and she is my first own bike that I am doing all the work on. I am planning on putting some 16" apes on her but would like to ask you guys for some guidance in terms of manufacturer, center width, required extensions/ where to get them and how long they have to be and anything else I should know before I start this mission. I'm not a mechanic and new to the forum and new in the states so don't really have anybody to ask, that is why I am reaching out to you my fellow HD enthusiasts for some support for the newbie.
Thanks in advance!

Initially I was a total newbie to apes so I figured "go really tall or not at all" DONT do this.
Fortunately, the shop I bought the bars in (16") was run by a guy who has been riding apes for 30 years. Every set of bars I wanted he said "NO" "NO" NO" . He sat me on a showroom bike and explained pullback, rise etc. and told me what I needed. Pullback is a biggie, it can be the difference between comfort and misery.........My advice, talk to someone who has or has riddin' apes for advice.

I know this might be a little late but i have a 98 fatboy and only riding for 2 years, im 5'9'' and put 16" with a 1" riser. Perfect. I wouldnt go shorter, everyone that has, has been disappointed.
