General Topics/Tech TipsDiscussion on break in periods, rider comfort, seats and pad suggestions. Tech tips as they become available will be posted here.
I had my local HD dealer install the Floorboard Kit last week. This involved removing the outer and inner primary to change out some of the shift linkage mechanisms.
I got it back, and apparently the Rotor blew apart about 120 miles into my first riding day with the floorboards on it, quit charging, starting, left me stranded. They did send a truck to get me, they have always been great to work with.
My question is this; would the Tech have needed to remove the Rotor and Stator to get the inner primary off to perform the required work?
I may be looking at quite an expensive fix, if the rotor left parts flying around inside the primary, for a bike that worked flawlessly prior to the change to floorboard.
Just an update, the local HD dealer repaired everything at their expense.
As I said in my first post, they have always been great to work with, sometimes stuff just happens.
