Just heard it on the news. I wonder if the Speedway influenced them into withdrawal?
Probably not, TG doesn't meddle in the town needlessly. There was more likely some local residents that were starting to consider 40,000 (their guess, mines higher) sport bikes running up and down 16th Street.
The town of Speedway is changing in ways the old timers don't like. It was built with smaller nicer homes for retired people and IMS and Allisons paid the property taxes. They did their best to keep the high density apartments out for a long time, but the inner city is catching up with them. Just the way the world is.

hmmm interesting perspective, because I wrote IMS and ask that they play a hand in making sure this movement doesn't get passed. The PR department wrote me back about three days before it was made public and said they had met with the town council and doubted it would be made a law. They had said it took them by surprise as well and they also didn't agree with it as it would only hurt their fans.

It was pretty much nonsense to begin with, they don't mind the older harley riders who have the loud pipes. Sport bikes just aint all that loud. I figured from the get that it was just the news trying to make a story out of a few people going straight laced. Really though, some of them are beginning to have visions of 40,000 sport bikes together. Indy can handle it though, and there will be spots that are all Harley.
