Default Detroit Area HOG Chapters

Can anyone provide information on any of the Detroit MI area HOG Chapters? The one to which I currently belong is, or appears to be from my experience, not as active as the other chapters. So information on the other chapters would be helpful, which are the good ones, active ones, etc. Which one(s) to avoid. Thanks.

Try the Motor City chapter. I am not a member of HOG, but know that they have a pretty full calendar of events. Go to the Motor City Harley- Davidson website and the HOG chapter is there.

Motor City does a lot of charity type events and single day rides. I refuse to ride with them in any way. They are the largest out there with over 1000 members but too many drunks riding along. (one day ride was one too many)

Crossroads HOG out of the Brighton Dealership, does not sponsor any charity events, However, all summer long, they take weekend trips to wherever, This year we had Hocking hills Ohio, Miluwakee Hog Rally (with a tour of parts of the UP), Indiana covered bridge rides, Fall color tour is upcoming, a Road captians ride down to Kentucky, One to the Sandusky area of Ohio, A mackinaw city trip, and a few others. Also a Lunch ride every other Sunday, and a dessert ride most wendsday nights. Most of the weekend rides are from Friday Morning till Sunday (Monday if its a Holiday) They also have bylaws prohibitting any drinking during the scheduled riding times. After arrival is fine, but NOT if the group is going back out on the bikes. Safety is super important.
The chapter also helps out at the dealership almost every weekend cooking up Burgers and Dogs for anyone that stops by.

I have heard that ABC Harley in Waterford, has an active chapter, but I have not had the time to check them out.

Here is a link to the Wolverine Chapter from Clinton Twp, just north of Mt Clemens. They are a very active chapter, they do dinner rides every Friday (35 - 70 bikes) they do at least 4 charity rides a year. Plus just a great group of people. If you ever want to go to a dinner ride, we could meet up and I could take you as a guest to see if you like it. You can PM if you are interested. http://www.wolverinehog.com/

I might take you up on that. I am a HOG member but have not joined a Chapter yet. I bought my bike from Motorcity but, Wolverine is closer to me and I like the poeple there.

Can you tell me what benefits it has? other then the rides?

Everytime I buy something at Wolverine they ask "chapter member?" . Is there a discount if your are>?

I'm not sure if they still do, it used to be 10% if you were a local member, but I think they did away with that, and now offer 30% off a couple of times a year. So, if you buy one big ticket item a year when they do that, it often pays for the membership and then some. I get 15% because I bought my bikethere. About once a month in the summer they have dealer events and free food and a band, anyone can go to those. Its a pretty good chapter. Let me know when you want to go, I'm always ready for a ride
