Relocation to Detroit area

Hi All,

I will be relocating from Orlando, FL to the Detroit (Southfield) area in about two weeks and was wondering if anyone could suggest where I should look for a nice community to move to? I'll be looking to rent/buy a two bedroom, two bath house/townhouse with a garage.

Brian,

There are some very nice areas in and around Southfield, depending on how far out from your job you want to be. I personally wouldn't head east along the I 696 corridor, west would be better. Novi isn't that far away or Wixom either. Going north into Oakland county can be a bit pricey, but with the state of Michigan right now, it's all up in the air.

I wish you the best of luck up there, Michigan is a disaster. The wife and I moved to Texas last year after I lost my job with Detroit Edison. The best decision we made was to leave, I hope you have much better luck than us.

I am currently about 15-20 minutes west in Walled Lake, and love the area. great schools, shopping and easy access to some pretty good riding.
