Has anyone had any experience with this problem? I just shelled out almost $350 for V&H Dual Headers for my ’08 Ultra w/Sidecar and found they will not fit properly due to the upward bend on the front header just below the transmission. Behind the bend, the pipe hits the rear sidecar mount and will not go up far enough to attach the muffler to its mount. Now I cannot return them due to having already put the heat shields on them. Luckily, a friend is taking them off my hands.
Apparently there’s no solution to the V&H problem, so is there any brand of true duals that follows the same layout as the OE headers that will accept OE type mufflers (Screamin’ Eagle)?
Just to give you my installation experience. The Fullsac kit makes a very nice conversion to a true dual configuration. The install on a bike without a sidecar would be very easy, but with the sidecar it takes a little longer than the instructions say. The rear header pipe can't be removed by knocking it back because of the rear sidecar mount (can't knock it back far enough). The solution is to take the front header loose and move it forward enough to be able to remove the rear. Or another solution is to cut the collector pipe off at the bottom of rear header. This will allow the rear pipe to be removed also and it can't be used again, but you don't have to go to the trouble of removing the front header.
Hope this makes sense and might help someone. BTW, it looks, sounds and runs great.
