Default MGS True Duals: Has anyone had issues?

I installed the MGS True Duals on my bike a few days ago. The quality is very nice and they sound great! The directions left a lot to be desired, but it was a pretty straight forward install on my 04 FLHRI. Just FYI, you have to buy your own gaskets or make sure you specify you need them. The kit does not come with gaskets, flanges, or flange nuts.

I'm concerned about how far out the rear head pipe protrudes. They seem fine when I'm in riding gear and my legs are down at a stop, but that pipe is pretty close to my left leg. And even with the spacer installed on the left passenger floor board, it seems like the passengers foot will be pretty close to that pipe.

What has your experience been on your bike? Has it been an issue or not? If it has, what did you do to overcome it?

No issues with the rear pipe on mine. Neither wifey nor the boy have complained once.

Had the same issue on my '04. Seems they made the pipe to fit all years up to current and on the older models it sticks out further. I tried wrapping the header under the heat shield, but just couldn't get the heat down enough for me when stopped. Ended up taking them off and going with a Fatcat.

My legs are pretty long so I think I'll be ok as long as I stay aware of where the pipe is. Who knows, I might get sick of them and swap them out like you did.

Default Floor board spacer

Drag Specialties has a 1 inch spacer you can use and it will bring your floor board out an extra 1/2 inch. part number is 1629-0069.

Would I install that along with the spacer I used from the kit? I already used the thick spacer that came with the exhaust kit.

Default left leg

The left leg with shorts on.... can get hot.

Looking at D&D 2-1 after having these on a year, to get the torque curve back where it needs to be.

I feel my left head pipe sticks out too far too. I have adjusted it over and over again. I've researched and changed gaskets. Recently I went through every damn gasket at a NAPA store till I found one that might space juuuuust enough to put the pipe where it should be closer inboard.

I ordered chrome tips and they told me they would refund me most of it if I returned the black tips in perfect condition. I did, but I got no refund. In the same order I decided to be nice and return all the parts I didn't use. Which was quite a bit. Especially since I bought floorboard extenders so I didn't need theirs. I left a nice note explaining that I was giving them all the extra hardware and I hoped that they would please give me an extra rear floorboard spacer so I could use it on the right to keep the spacing the same on both sides. You think I got a spacer? NOPE! I'm not real happy with the customer service.

I do like the look and sound of the pipes.

So which gasket did you end up with? Did it accomplish what you wanted?

I agree, they do look and sound awesome!
