removing the HD deflectors will eliminate the scoop effect and take the hot air off your thighs but you should not do this with a stock exhaust and fuel system.
You hit the nail on the head with this one. I learned that from painful experience. I had the dealer leave mine off because I don't care for the looks and after riding my dads 09 I didn't have any problems. Wow, the 10 was a whole different story. I was cooking big time without them and had to put them back on. This winter I removed them when I installed the cams and left them off. So far things have been very much cooler without them.

I do not know you so I cant refer to you has a "rat" ha but I for sure will buy you a nice meal if we ever meet up anywhere for all your advice!!!! I dont mind spending money for improvements to the trike as long as they help with the heat problem and make it run better...thanks again AK
I have also heard the engine will shut down before it self destructs, I have also heard it will not. I am not talking about the EITMS shutting down the rear cylinder, they are supposed to shut down both cylinders down when the temperature goes into the destructive area.
I would be interested if anybody else has heard this and knows how this works, ECM program?
I could be wrong but I don't think it will shutdown. I believe the EITMS kicking in is all they have in their back pocket to ward off the big melt down.

+1, but...
The only other option is the Power Management mode that will shut down the motor to idle mode if you are riding it too hard. Some think this is the EITMS but it is not the same.
