Default Hack brake bleeding

I just hooked up my sidecar brake (drum). I put a speed bleeder on the sidecar brake and think I have it bled properly. I took a test ride and brake pedal was still pretty mushy. I will bleed at the bike rear caliper also to see if that gets rid of the problem. My question is what does your rear brake pedal feel like with the hack brake installed and bled properly? Does it feel different from the bike rear brake alone? Does the extra volume of the hack brake change the rear brake pedal feel? Thanks, Dave

it is going to change the pedal feel, if your pushing two brakes, the pedal has to travel twice as far

I had trouble getting my brakes bleed on my 02 Ultra with a 06 standard sidecar. I bleed and bleed even use a vacuum pump as well as old way of bleeding. I got a little pedal and after riding it for a couple hundred miles the brakes are just as good as before I put the hack on. When the brakes are working properly there is not any difference in how they feel between hack or no hack.

Thanks for the replies, I thought the pedal would have to travel farther. I need to check the shoes on my sidecar brake too, not sure if I have the cams adjusted right.

My wife and I both have Hannigan hacks with disc brakes on the hack. Once bled, brake pedal feel is about the same as without the hacks.

My HD hack all so has disc but where a pain to get bleed. Now my hack since it was a 06 hack had DOT 4 in it and my 02 runs DOT 5 so I had to take the caliper apart clean it out real well then I sprayed brake cleaner through the hose and blew it out with 150 PSI of air Sevres times.
