Default 15 street 500 odometer replacement

Recently bought a 2015 street 500 without an odometer/speedometer due to what I assume to be an accident. The bike was bought at auction and the. I bought the bike from the company. I bought a replacement odometer from eBay but wanted to know if there was a way to have the ECM tell the new speedometer how many miles are on the actual bike to get rid of the discrepancy, I’ve read that the miles are stored in the eco and the Speedo but don’t have the original. Anyone done something like this? My local Harley dealer didn’t have answer either and just said they were married to the bike but wasn’t sure if he could read mileage from the ecm.

Yes and no.
If you purchased a new one with in 31 miles of installing it it will display correct mileage because it is store in ECM. Aftermarket Speedo will also do the same. Someone with a Centurion can make the used one do the same thing. But most won't.

HD ties the speedo to the VIN. That is why it does not work using a used one. The centurion can can the VIN.

You can install it and ride maybe you will get lucky.

Good luck with the 500 street. HD has not been real interested in supporting it with any parts.

Do not do the valve tappet adjust on yours until you have a set of cover bolts. They are hard to find HD will not stock them and the old ones can not be reused.

copy well thanks for the information, I appreciate it and guess I’ll see if I can get with someone with one, the title may still be branded with “not actual” but at least I’ll know the correct miles
