Default Mileage Re statement

How does mileage restatement work? Do you have to leave the bike at the dealer while they send it to HD? Does the dealer do it at the dealership? I have a new set of Spun Aluminum Gauges with zero miles on the odometer and want to install the speedometer with the correct mileage.

Your question is not clear to me. If you arereferring to speedo replacement:In the old days if a speedo was replaced you just got a sticker saying so attached next to the vin. Now a days I would think they have speedo reset to what ever your current miles were when replaced. A lot of people buy guages from e-bay etc. and just stick them in at what ever shows.

When ordering my speedo/tach I told the dealer prior to HD shipping it. Didn't the dealer ask about mileage when you ordered the gauges?

Having worked as a Parts Mgr. at HD dealership you have 2 choices:
Put in e-bay gauges at whatever miles they show and you can disclose correct mileage at time of sale or have HD parts guy send them back to Harley and have the mileage set there. If you had purchased them from dealer they would have had to get the mileage set prior to giving them to you. HD will not sell to you unless mileage is set before shipping.

I bought a new speedo/tach and the dealer asked what the mileage was before they sent in the order.

If your dealer can't do it without sending it out, maybe try a local speedometer shop.
