Good point I-12, I had thought that Chinook Pass was open by now. My original thought was to get the mascot to Yakima this weekend, then over the cascades on the next weekend with good weather. I have no problem taking White Pass if Chinook is still closed, just need to pick a different meeting point. I'll actually be coming from Olympia, but I'll hopefully be riding with members from Tacoma and Puyallup.
Frank sent me a note today and I am going to try to make it down with him Saturday. Where were you guys thinking about eating lunch?
That's a good question! There are a few good places close by but we may be pushing it for time but if we're a few minutes past one the world won't end! There's a Mexican restaurant just north of the dealership and Bob's Burgers to the south. Plenty of fast food around it too. Biggest issue is me getting away from work on time. If it's slow I could always lock up early.
This route would work as long as those taking it realize they will have to double back down SR 410 from Whistlin Jacks and go over US 12 to get to Tacoma. Chinook Pass is still closed and won't be open by the weekend (the pictures and report I saw today show they are still getting significant snow and avalanches up there even this week).
What I can see from the map, it seems to me that the Longmire-Paradise Rd South of Mt Rainier should be a mighty interesting route when open for traffic....
I peeled off and took 82 north, then I-90 east to Vantage and caught SR26 all the way home.... got back about 30min ago.... big burnt grin... lol
Only got 431 miles out of the trip today.... but that's okay for the first good ride of the season... not all of my riding muscles are in shape yet... LOL.
Good seeing you guys again, and good meeting you Springer and Inspector-12.

Looks like Chinook Pass is closed till the end of the month and Snoqualmie looks hosed, so if we move the mascot to the West side in the next week or two we'll need to use White Pass. Does anyone know of a place to meet in Pasco? That would be about half way between Oly/Tacoma and Yakima. I'm open to any good stops along hwy 12. Once we can settle on a destination and weekend I can start pulling together a crew to pick it up.

As I'm working on a 2011 HDF Mascot Map update, like Ratbob, I'd like to hear that as well!

I assume this is the itinerary you're planning to take, Jeff? Your feedback is much appreciated!
That's close Rene. At Morton I would jog North on Hwy 7 for anyone returning to Tacoma or Puyallup and head West on Hwy 702 to Hwy508. It's a very scenic route and just about all 2 lane rural highways.
