stage 1
I live in the UK and i bought from the USA SE slip on pipes to fit my 07 softail. I took these to my dealer and asked for a stage 1. After they did some ringing around they told me that the cartridge needed to perfrom this for these pipes had been discontinued and that I would be better to try and sell them on ebay and buy new pipes from the dealer. I do not know much about the new EFI models but feel the dealer is simply trying to get me to buy new pipes from them. If someone could please tell me what i need to do this and a part number i know there are better pipes available but i am stuck and no longer trust my dealer. thank you.
by asking for a stage 1, I am assuming you are referring to a stage 1 download?
Are you doing anything to your intake?
In most cases, the slip ons will not require remapping ( although remapping even in std form is a good idea). I know of quite a few guys who have installed slip ons and have not remapped.
Rather than waste money on a stage 1 download though, I would suggest spending some more and getting a SERT unit or a Powercommander as this will allow you all the flexibility you are looking for over the long term. While you are at it, look at your intake. You will be pleasantly surprised to see the difference.

It's a good choice amongst a few others.

thanks for the help guys. i think i will go for one of these, by the way the SERT is that something i can fit myself or is that something the stealer would have to fit.
The SERT is a module that allows you to talk to the ECM in your motorcycle.
You load a map into the software and modify the tables in that map. You then flash the ecm with the modified map.
There a number of maps that come on the cd for combinations of Harley components. If your setup matches or is a close match you can use that map.
the fuelpak is a piggy back unit like the power commander. It does not allow you to adjust timing like the power commander does. From what I understand, you need to go back to V&H for set up changes ( but could be wrong here- someone please correct me if so)
thanks
Mick
