I would be surprised if the starter was done unless there is some compression upgrades to your bike. Make sure you battery cables are clean and tight, put a battery tender on it for the night before you pull things apart even a boost may show you the starter is ok. Even a year old battery can go bad under certain condition, especially if its a poor quality unit.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I cleaned up the battery terminals and connections over the weekend. It is a little better, but I will probably end up taking to an indy shop that I use and have him take a look at it. It starts right up occasionally now, but still does the stutter start 2 times out of 3. Sounds like a ghost in the machine!
