Default 96 Road king stalling

I have an issue with intermittent stalling of my 96 Road King. When it started to happen, I would pull over and try to restart it. It would eventually start after a couple of minutes. After this happened a few times, I found out that if I turn the ignition to the off position and then back on, It would fire right up, often with a very loud backfire. It's almost like something is being reset when I do this. I tried using a different ignition switch, but this wasn't the problem. Has anyone else had this problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

Check your battery ground first....Bike needs three things, compression, Gas, and spark. Always rule out the easy stuff first. Battery ground is where I would start, then your charging system, your fuses, you fuel lines, and filters...etc etc

What was the last thing you did to the bike? what year? Carb or FI?

The bike has a CV carb.IT is getting gas and air. When it dies, it dies immedietly. If I pull over and try to start it without switching off the ignition switch, the starter and all electrical works fine. The motor might try to start but it doesn't catch. When I turn the ignition switch off and then back on, it starts up right away everytime. I can sometimes catch it if I am driving and see that it is happening, I would turn the ignition switch off and on and it will start right back up on its own. Like I said before, its almost like something electronic is being reset.
