How to separate fuel tank fitting from fuel line fitting. I would like a little advise, before I f
u. a $186 hose assembly. Is there a retaining ring that holds them together ?
What are you working on? Year and model. do you have a FSM?
Generally speaking, the fuel line separates from the tank on a EFI bike by pressing up on the chrome collar at the bottom left of the tank and pulling the hose off, much like an air hose fitting.
That fuel line shouldn't be $186.
HD 99 flhtcui return hose where fuel line+ fuel tank fittings connect leaks. I think it needs an o-ring on the fuel line where it inserts into tank fitting. Wondering how it separates, yes I have FSM. That fuel line assembly costs.
No problem. My answer was based on my type of connector. I'm not sure if the MM is different.
Sometimes, you may have to push up on the fitting while pushing on the collar to get it to release properly.
The fuel tank fitting unscrews from the check valve in the tank via a hex but. That hex nut turns on the fuel line fitting that is inside it. Thanks again.
Sometimes that fix will work. I would try that first. There are also internal O-Rings which are not serviceable because the fitting is press fit. If the line is still leaking after trying the O-ring that was suggested in the video, then you will need to replace the lines. You can either replace them with the HD ones at about $180 each, or you can get an aftermarket set from Goodgridge HDFL005 at a cost of $180 for the pair. If you do replace the lines make sure you get a set of O-rings and new circlips for the injectors.
Another advantage of the Goodridge lines is that the internal O-rings are serviceable.
