Default intake port diameter

If my heads are going to have an intake port diameter of 1.80, I assume my throttle body should also have a port diameter of 1.80. The SE 58MM has a 1.750 which wouldn't work for me would it. I should go with the HPI in this case, or have the SE 58MM bored out? Looking for recommendations, thanks.

John, how is it that your ports are going to be 1.80"?! If you're having them ported by an expert then ask him. He should be able to advise, possibly also match your inlet manifold to the heads.

I little bit of step is not bad. I usually set the manifold / throttle body about 0.010 less. The Throttle body port is a pinch point for flow so it's best to open it up. I'd measure the OD of the spigot and make sure it's in the 1.90 to 1.92 inch range before opening it up. If smaller than I'd got to a different throttle body.

Depending on how the spigot matches the head, you might want to do this by hand. That way you can get better port alignment to the heads.
