Default New build issues. Please help!

Hi guys
I have just installed a new 113ci screamin eagle kit, 50mm se intake, 110ci se heads (ported and polished internals) 49 g/s injectors. It also has the vance and hines fp3 tuner which i emailed them the specs and they sent me a map to upload.
once i finished the build it fired right up, it will only start when cold, when hot if you try to start it will puff black smoke and backfire through the air cleaner as if it is running very rich. It shows the p0108 code map sensor fail high/open port. I have changed the map sensor and also o2 exahust sensors.
any advice would be much appreciated

I'd clear the code and reload the stock MAP. Then see if it will run long enough to warm up. Turn off and attempt to restart once warmed up. If the problem persists I'd say it has nothing to do with the tune. If it restarts then it's in the tune.

I have to believe that the FP3 is out of its league with a build like this. Time for a real tuner in my opinion.

Carl, the tune should not cause the code. The code is indicating the circuit on the MAP sensor is open - it does not necessarily mean the sensor failed. The failed high/open means that the ECM is seeing too much of the 5v reference that is being sent - it's not changing through the sensor to a reported return voltage. You replaced the MAP sensor - you need to verify the connector and wiring is good. Start by looking into the connector and verifying the sockets are not spread and verify that the terminals in the sensor are not bent. Make sure there are no breaks in the wiring at the connector. You really should have an electrical schematic so you would be able to verify all possible wires but start with the simple stuff at the connector for now.

If you find nothing, you might try starting the bike without the FP3. If that fixes it, it still might not be the tune in the FP3, it could be electrical and you'd want to replace the unit or go with a tuner that actually programs the ECM rather than piggybacking. If it does it with a different FP3, than the only thing I can think of is that the calibration is so far out that it's taking the read at the incorrect time and seeing a high voltage. The Harley ECM takes reads of the sensors based on crank position and cam profiles have a lot to do with how the OE calibrations are set up. When the cam profile is way out of what the programming thinks it should be, things can get pretty weird.

In most of these cases that I have seen, recent work has been done and there is a damaged or loose connector or wire somewhere in the mix.

Also - make sure that the throttle shaft is not broken in the throttle body.

You really need to get that build to a competent tuner to get the fueling and timing safe for riding on the street. You’ve spent a bunch for the build, now is time to finish the job.
Riding an untuned bike is like eating the batter before baking the cake.
