Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel InjectionNeed advice on ignition issues? Questions about a tuner? Have questions about a EFI calibration or Fuel Injection? Tips on Engine Diagnostics, how to get codes, and what they mean. Find your answers here.
Hey yall, I have a 2009 CrossBones I bought 3 years ago. Ive had idle and starting issues since the fall. It finally threw the p1532 code. I checked front spark plug, and sure enough, no spark. I installed new coil, plugs, wires, and a new battery. Only mod was a handlebar change. That was at time of purchase. No problems then. After changing plugs, coil, wires etc...I cant get fuel ignition to initiate. That was never a problem before. After testing all grounds and wires with a multimeter, all seems normal. Bike will crank, but not turn over. Again, fuel injection will not activate after changing plugs and coil. Scoot has 10,000 miles on it. Did I short ECM or security? Fuses and terminals tested good. I cant think of anything that happened to make it take such a left turn. I may be leaving something out, but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Brent
Do you get the 3 second timed fuel run when you key on? If not, that is the timer in the fuel pump relay. Most older Harley's have two relays that are the same number for fuel pump and ECM that you can switch to get that since it's only used on fuel pump. After that, the fuel pump is controlled by the ECM grounding the pump and then only after it gets 10-20 hits from the CPS there on the front of the motor.
Also the alarm/signal light or signal light control has a
bankangle switch that kills pump if bike is leaned over too far.
Think the term sounds better to say, it cranks but will not start.
Or it turns over but will not run.
Is the bar change include internal wires? There ought to be a law against that garbage. Causes more problems then heated grips.
How did you detect spark. Most Harleys will not spark with both plugs out.

RIPSAW, I get nothing from fuel pump. When I turn key, there is not a sound. Yes, bars are internally wired, but have been for over 3 years with no issues. Thanks
