Hi all,
I am having an issue getting my bike started.
When I push the start button, the engine cranks slow then stops after a couple slow cranks. I can jump my bike with my truck and it starts right up. After riding around it will start right up but after 12 hours or so of sitting it has difficulty getting going or it goes back to where I need to jump it again.
At first i thought it was my battery so I replaced it. But still Fresh out of the box and I am having the same issue. I have gotten a meter to read the output at start up and its amping down to 9.6 V. I have checked all wires and connections to the best of my ability (not great but as thorough as a beginner can be) and I didn't discover any wires that looked damaged or lose connectors. I haven't pulled the solenoid or starter yet. not sure i want to go that far just yet without someones opinion.
Just because the battery is new doesn't mean it was fully charged when you took it out of the box. Put it on a charger overnight and try again. If not good then get it load tested. You should consider putting it on a battery charger when it's parked.
Double check to make sure the cables at the battery are good, and especially the ground cable connection- it needs to be clean and tight.
I checked all the negative connection and grounds to the frame work. All look good. I have had. A trickle charger on the battery over night. Still wont start with out a jump.
