Does a modern day ECU keep a data log of any changes made to it. For example if I fitted a FP3 and uploaded a new map to the ECU and then returned to original factory map to the bike would the ECU record it? If it does is it easily visible to the technician when he is working on the bike?

From what I understand and have read here theres no hiding another tuner even if you flash back to stock configuration.
What age of bike are you talking about ? As far as I understand it , the older Twincams had no telltale dramas to worry about.
The "new" M8's on the other hand well that's a diferent ball game. Apparently it can be told by the HD dealer Digitech computer that "mods" have been done.
In the "olden days" only TTS could return your bike to stock calibration tunes. There may be others more recent but I don't use them personally.
depends?
some ecu's do not have a history file
some only gives data for time stamp when the flash was made, they cannot tell if it was flashed by a particular devise.
sometimes left over data is transferred and can hang around so it is best to purge the ecu
if you go to a dealer, and they ask, could always say you had issue on the road and it was flashed by "X" dealership
some dealerships are hard ball and some are not
i ride gravity, never fails

The ECM in a Harley is just like any other memory device. If you erase the entire memory and reprogram it, then there is nothing left behind. Now you just need to findout what the FP3 really does. Most only program a part of the memory so there are things left behind to be found. The only one that stores the entire memory and returns the entire thing that I know of is Mastertune. Now that said, if what was present in memory was not Stock then that is what will be put back in.
