Hi, guys,
I've got a '87 FLHTC, with dual fire ignition, so it has two plugs per head, two coils,etc....
It started missing, sputtering, and would lose power, then die. I could restart, and idle ok, and would run if I easedthe throttle off and on.
I thought it was fuel prob, so I pulled the S&S super E apart, checked float, jets, needle valve,..all ok.
Then on to electrical, I discovered I had no spark at plugs. I've got 13 volts to coils, and so I pulled plug, connected to coil, grounded plug to frame, still no spark.I did this with each coil to try to isolate.
I am still learning about these great machines, and since retiring, and have the time, I'm trying to do my own maint.
Now for the question, someone asked if I checked the ignition module. I have not, I don't know where it is first of all, ( I'm really afraid it's going to be ibside fairing), and I don't know the function of the mod..Any help in this problem would be appreciated,.......thanks,....Jim

Jim the ign mod is mounted on the left side of the neck....you can get at it by turning the handle bars full to the right. If you have dual plugs like you said I would think that stock module is no longer in use but it might have been replaced with a DTT or the likes . The trigger devise is in the cam cover just above you right hand foot board. It will have two small screws in it or two rivets. If it is rivets they have to be drilled out to remove the cover. You should get a manual to see the test procedures for this ign trigger.
