Default How to tell is FP3 has been "Married"

I met a guy who offered to sell me an "un-married" FP3 Fuelpak for my touring bike.

Now he says he only used it to read codes, is this even possible> to just plug in and read codes without marrying?

If so, how would I tell once I got it?

Thanks.

Yes you can read codes without being married. Even after being married to one bike you can still use it to read codes on other bikes. I would assume the only way to tell it’s not been married is to connect to your bike and try and load a tune.

The only way of knowing the FP3 isn't married is to connect it to your bike and see if it finds your vin # and lets you download a map . I've used my FP3 to look up codes on other bikes as well with no issues .
