The 17 fxdls i just bought was running fine for a week but now the engine light is on and rolling the throttle produces no revs. Bike starts and shifts just fine, but throttle puts out no power to the wheel. Anyone have this problem before? Is this perhaps a tbw issue?
By any chance has there been work done in the handlebar/controls area? Sounds like there is a problem with the communication (wiring) from the twistgrip and the ECM.

Yeah the previous owner put some lucky daves 13s on, and I'm guessing he crossed a connection or missed something during installation.
A google search tells me I'm likely to need a new tgs module, but I wanted to check here on the forums first to see if anyone has encountered this issue before.
Apparently it's not an uncommon issue for those that swap their bars, but since I wasn't the one to do it, I want to make sure I get it fixed correctly.
Before you start spending money for something you think you may need (but eventually you might need), check all the wiring first. If something is bad then a new module won't fix it.
So it was running fine then all of a sudden out of nowhere the TBW error came up?
Find the TBW connector in the opening by the steering head. It’s a small 6 place connector. It looks like this.
Disconnect the two. Look at the handlebar side (side with sockets, not pins) and I’d bet one or some of the wire socket connectors weren’t seated properly and pushed back in the housing. It’s real easy to wreck the internal retainer clips if someone depinned it to make pulling it through the bars easier.
I’ve given up on reusing them. Once I depin it, it gets tossed, and I use a new one.
And really, really hopefully, whoever did the job didn’t cut and solder extensions in it... If so, toss it and buy a new TBW and a proper extension cable.

Yeah that little six pin connector on the tbw side was mangled to ****, and the white plastic clips on the end of the throttle twist were practically sheered off, so I bought a new tgs module.
The problem now is that the new connector is different. I can't reuse the old one because the wires are toast. Where do I get a new connector that fits the fxdls?
I’d be very careful. You have the wrong TBW sensor. That’s not for a LRS. Who knows if there are calibration differences between models. And/or pinout differences. I’d get the right one before f’ing around with changing connectors.
