Default Is it dead

I had problems with one of my cylinders not running. After checking, plugs leads coil etc I was told it sounded like the crank position sensor. So I pulled it cleaned it and now clock those up P0371 too many pulses code. I had no code before cleaning the part just one cylinder that didn't run. Now I have that code and no spark at all. Is the sensor dead ? Is it time to replace? Thanks all

no idea.... I think they are cheap enough to buy and if by touching the unit its now fully dead then that's probably a good giveaway. The Dealer Service folks might have a spare you could swap out to confirm.

one cylinder not firing wouldn't be a crank sensor. if there's spark, it's probably fuel. check fuel pressure (or listen for the tank hissing) then injectors.

Speed sensors and engine rpm sensors MUST be good or poor run quality will occur. The fact it is running on one cylinder may or may not be caused by misinformation from a bad sensor.

Was the spark plug in the dead cylinder wet or dry when it wasn't firing?

true, but wouldn't being able to know where it is in the cycle for the 1 cylinder make it pretty likely that it's working to know where the other cylinder is? at the point that it's running it's already properly figured out which cylinder and which stroke and isn't it just keeping count (sync) at this point?
