Question: Can a used BCM w/security from a 2017 FLHXS (41000341A) be installed into a 2017 FLHX replacing the base BCM (41000351A), if the PIN is not known?
My dealer says yes, but theyre hesitant to say that because of the PIN and theyve never installed security with a used BCM before.
usually a pin is used for customer level programming
a used ecu can be cleared of all programming with the right programmer
past that, board level dumping can also be done.
Dealer says nothing can be done without the PIN, but they’re open to suggestions. They told me I can hook that BCM up to my bike and just keep trying different codes and see if I find one that works...

If anyone has suggestions, or knows how the dealer can use the digital tech to clear the BCM, change the PIN, etc., they said they’d try any suggestions but there isn’t any way they know how.
I've seen several diagnostic tools (Snap-on, Diag4Bike, TechnoResearch) be able to read the user's PIN without ever having to enter the PIN in the first place, why can't Harley's Digital Tech do that? These diagnostic tools allow one to program a fob without first entering a PIN, then you can use that fob to change the PIN! If someone has a diagnostic tool to be able to read my PIN or program a fob, I'd greatly appreciate it!
on that subject, i do not remember what communication protocol hd uses but maybe if you find a nearby shop with the tool in question, you would have to make a jumper to adapt to the hd data port. in the past, each mfg could have what they wanted but since obd2, they are standardized, i do not think mc are. i got a box full of otc adapters for the obd in infancy.
