I took a Torx bit, the type that fits inside a small socket, and taped it to a box-end wrench. That's the only Torx option I had that would fit in that confined space. It was slow but it worked for me.

I recommend grinding a 1/4 off the end of the bit and using a wrench so the bit doesn't hit the fins when the screw is almost out.

I know this is an old thread but, I have been reading as many as I can due to have the same problem as most. Replacing the TPS seems easy enough except for the rear screw closest to the cylinder head fins. Can anyone tell me if they were able to install the TPS sensor with the throttle body still on or did you remove the throttle body and then replace the sensor? Also, is there any other tips or cautions for the procedure? Thanks in advance.

Piece of cake! Grind down the 1/4 bit and use a 1/4 wrench on it. Replaced my TPS several times. Got it down to a 15 min job.

Longest part of the job, grinding down the bit! Assume trick!
