brake lights issue

brake lights issue
i have tail lights but no brake lights . neither the front or rear switch works. or the brake light may be stuck on. i cant tell. i do know that both terminals red and orange at the rear switch are both hot with key on as is both contacts inside the bulb housing. this leads me to believe the brake light is stuck on. im no electrical person. can anybody lead me through some troubleshooting?

Disconnect the wires from the rear switch, does the light go out?
If it does not go out, the problem is the usual suspect, the front switch...

thank you dan....its good to have you guys here.i did disconnect both wires and light did stay on.i then disconnected brake lever and worked switch back and forth. you were correct .brake lights again. i dont know what happened.i sprayed some electronic cleaner on it. i think im good to go. much thanks.
