Dyna sputtering and code P0264, SOLVED!
just thought I share with you a recent problem I diagnosed and fixed.
2016 FXDLS was throwing a P0264 code (low/no voltage rear injector)
the bike was running rough on the highway here and there and my power vision was having a hard time auto tuning.
I tried to swap the injectors to see if one had gone bad, when I put the bike back together and fired it up it was only running on one cylinder.
next I preformed a continuity test between the injector plugs and the ECM harness and found that the rear injector plug had ground but no connection to the ECM (broken wire), pulled back the heat shielding a bit and found a break in the wire.
FIX: to fix this I released the wire from its connector (YouTube how) and carefully opened up the prongs and soldered a new piece of wire in, then at the bike I pulled back the heat shielding and cut off a portion of the old wire and soldered in the new piece, (dont forget heat shrink and high heat electrical tape to cover) then popped the connector back together, checked for continuity and voila! Fired it up, both cylinders firing and No more codes, bike runs perfect.
I found that where the Rear injector wire is zip tied to the induction module wires and into the harness, there Was not enough slack and over time, with vibration, stretched the wire out and caused the break.
Note: this work would have been covered under warranty but I was in a time crunch to attend a memorial ride for my best friend so I couldnt wait for the dealer to fix it.
hope this helps someone else out there.
