Default Misfire - Backfire
I have a 1998 Softail. I had a 30,000 mile tune-up done at the end of last year. Drove great coming home. Sat for a couple months during the peak of winter. Started riding again periodically in March. When I start it up, it idles fine. When I take off, it seams to misfire/loose power intermittently and then back fire nearly every deceleration. After riding for about 5 minutes or so, it operates perfectly. I have let it completely warm up before taking off and still has same issues. Have checked everything I can think and have drained the fuel. Local dealership seems dumbfounded as well (Not super impressed with the Fishers IN Service shop). Could sure use some additional ideas of what to check

check for vacum leaks....and report back with what you find.

Could try running some sea foam in the tank , 1 ounce / gal , clean the tb really well , both butterfly and seat , and check the air cleaner .

Thank you for the input. Ended up needing a new slow jet. Beast was wanting more petro!
