04 softail lost power
I have a softail standard which run great then i didnt start it for about a month now its lost a lot of power,checked wireing, vac hoses plugs and dont think its the gas .even sitting still the throttle has a miss any ideas.thanks
Replace your spark plugs, even if they look good.
Check the obvious and simple things, Softails are known for the ignition wires working themselves loose pull them off and snap them back on so you know they're on tight. If your bike is carbureted it is very likely one of the jets or idle passages have some crap in them and/or if your bike is injected drain the fuel, pour some in a clear glass container and let it sit for a couple hours and see if it separates (that would indicate water in the fuel). Normally if a bike ran perfect before you parked it, it should run perfectly when you start it next riding season. A couple things I would suggest in the future: Don't start your bike unless you're gonna ride it, ALWAYS leave it on a battery maintainer (I love the battery genius brand) and no matter what anyone tells you, Use a fuel stabilizer, no other snake oils though.
