Hello to All:
The ignition module on my S&S 96" crapped out after 5k miles. Read an earlier thread comparing various units, .. it was all Greek to me. The stock unit did it's job well, I'd like something comparable, simple, easy install, American made. I'm running a S&S single fire coil if that makes any difference. I'm a rookie when it comes to modern ignitions. My last build was a 48 Pan with a Hunt magneto.. things were simpler then. Thanks
Thanks. Yes it's an EVO setup. I liked the performance of the Super Stock ignition, as it came set to the motors parameters. Can't find a replacement using their p/n, and no luck getting ahold of S&S. My main concern is heat, S&S engines run hotter. I think it contributed to the original unit failure. Any thoughts on the S&S HI-4N ?
I like Dynatek but care more for an external ignition module with just the Hall effect pickup in the nose cone ( because of heat). Their curves are a little less aggressive than Ultima or the HI-4 which I think allow the motor to run a little cooler.. You can also jet the motor properly to run lower engine temp if it's a little lean..
