code U1016 HIST..loss of ICM/ECM serial data instruments.
ok..i keep getting this code and I know its legit cause I feel the studder occasionally when crusing anywhere from ~2300-2900rpm. been running this setup and tune for almost 2 years. something is cutting out and I'm not sure if its fuel or fire.
any ideas.
thanks

What mods are on your bike (electrical-related)? Looks like bars - did anything get stretched, kinked, or pinched?
yes bars, accent lights, PV. all have been installed for 2 years. i dont think anything is pinched. guess ill take the seat and tank off to have a look at my connections. thanks
The U1016 DTC means loss of ECM "state of health" message on serial data feed. The serial data is sent from the ECM at terminal #5 on a light green with violet stripe (LGN/V) wire. The common reasons why this DTC is set:
an open ground (check for ground continuity on ECM terminals 10 and 28)
loss of Switched power = white with black stripe (W/BK) wire (fed from engine "stop" switch when in the "RUN" position)
bad ECM
loss of serial data (need to check LGN/V wire for damage)
The LGN/V wire runs from the ECM and then branches off to the DATA link connector, the IM, the TSM/TSSM, and the ABS ECU (if present).
Good luck.

thanks for this reply. looks like I have some research to do.
ok..just started to tear into her and got the tank off so i started checking for pinched or loose wires in the ecm area first then started working my way to the under the tank area and while checking all connections under there I wiggled the MAP sensor wires and noticed the sensor moved. looked at the bolt and it was almost out. could this have caused my stumble. don't want to tear into it further if I don't have to.
thanks

That I believe only holds it in, wait till others chime in, and verify.

thanks for the reply. curious to know what the knowlegable will reply. since I'm not far into the tear down I'm going to button it back up and ride it for a few miles to see if the studder is gone.
