Default 2007 FLHTCU diagnostic plug

Purchased a PV and during installation I noticed something was already plugged in there. I traced the wire to the rear trunk. Haven't pulled up the liner yet, but why would there be anything plugged in there other than a programmer?

I did program the bike with no issues and did not notice anything wrong after I took it for a test ride. I did not connect the mystery plug that was on the diagnostic plug back up. Just seem weird.

You may find that it is plugged into lights or was. It is away to run additional lights . On my sidecar rig I use a Y that gives me two ports to use One is plugged in all of the time the other is when I need it for the tuner. It the one that is used all of the time is what makes the shut down on the reverse work.
Or maybe last owner had a tuner in on it and did not want to remove the cable.

Traced it to the 12VDC cigarette lighter port in the trunk.

Often when a reverse is installed they plug into the port for the safety shut down and it is used sometimes to allow sidecar or other lights. If you wish a Y cable can go in keeping the port open for you if you want the tune plugged in all the time.
In your case they just used it to power the port.

The data plug and auxiliary power plug look very similar and are located in the same place by the fuse panel on 09 and later. Not sure on yours but possibly just plugged in the wrong one to run the lights.
