Default Plug wire clamp

Made this clamp for my plug wire out of aluminum, question is will it have any effect on the spark? I have read where if you use metal to make spark plug wire separators it will have an effect on the spark. This was on a car.

Won't hurt a bit unless wires get old and broken down by the sun .

I personally would fine a scrap of #8 3 wire. Cut and split it for a sleeve . Snug or black RTV to stick it.

When all is good, flat black rattle can it to make it disappear.

Years ago, when we were just getting our heads above water and making $70 a week, we had a 62 Corvair Monza Spider. (The one with a turbo)

This was in 68. It wasn't running very good, especially if it rained.

Worked 2nd shift and an old guy (Mr Green) there who once worked for a Pontiac Dealership handed me a empty spray bottle from the lens cleaning station .

Told me to fill it with water and tonight when I went home, spray the wires while it was running. You could see electric leakage all over them.

Good old fellow. He loaned me his mechanics tools to rebuild the motor.

I ridge cut the cylinders by hand with a hand ground MoMax lathe tool.

Thank you Mr Green. Told me he was the go to mechanic for water leaks in Pontiacs. Told me he would raise the rubber mats and center punch a few drain holes. Made great bonus money.

Never was sure if he was joking. He knew all the tricks in the toolmaker's shop for sure ..

Dip it or coat it, the vibration will compromise the insulation on the wire after a while.
That's why all plug wire supports are coated or plastic.

naw, metal looms have been around forever and just about any color to match the under hood. if the metal crosses the wire at 90* then you do not have to worry about emf, only when you run in parallel will you get magnetic induction.
that is a good reason to always follow the mfg original routing especially on computer controlled vehicles.

I have a nice assortment of various size and gauge shrink tubing I've gathered over the years I use to insulate odds & ends like that. Ebay commercial surplus is a treasure trove for this kind of stuff cheap.

I know on small block chevys(first generation)that a couple of the wires have to cross. My curiosity never made me seek out why but now I know. Thanks
