I have an 1981 harley FXE and I am wondering what timing marks I should see through the view plug for exceptable timing.I am having an awfull time with getting the timing right.any help would be most apreciated.
According to the HD manual, set the throttle to 2000 RPM's
Connect timing light to the front plug wire and the mark you should see in the hole is a smalldot or maybe the horizontal 8. Put this mark in the center of the hole. (The small dot is early 1980 and the horizontal 8 is late 1980 and later) The dot is the front cylinder advance timing mark and the lazy 8 is the rear cylinder advance timing mark. The book is worded kinda funny but the illustration shows the dot is front and the lazy 8 is the rear cylinder.
Hope this helps.
