Along the coastal areas of SC it can be a challenge to find anything above 91. The top tiers that offer 93 near me are suspect, at best, because I've tried a tank or two and get the occasional pinging.
Just for grins, I will add some Amsoil Octane boost about every 3rd or 4th tank.
I'll say I do a combination of all of them. But voted for top tier fuel, as that's always the first option.
I try to get to tier fuel when I can is my first step, and then try to fill up with non-ethanol when I can find it. I only know of one station that has it and it's still 15 miles from home. But I did fill up there my last few tanks as non-riding weather could be here any day and I'd rather have non-ethanol in my tank if its going to sit for an extended period.
Then I will occasionally add Seafoam and AMSOIL Performance Improver in everything around my house. I figure it can't hurt. And I keep a few of those little bottles of the octane increaser around just incase I get some lesser fuel during a ride. I don't have fuel problems in anything around my house!
My owner's manual says to use premium, so I use premium. (If it said to use regular, I'd use regular).
Where I am, by law, Regular is required to have 10% ethanol, Mid grade 5% and Premium was ethanol free.. but, last year they changed the law making stations put ethanol in the Premium, so we no longer have any 'pure' gas.
