backfire/won't start

backfire/won't start
Have a 93 Ultra, was riding yesterday and had a LOUD backfire and she just died, when I try to start now it just backfires and won't start? Any suggestions, possibly fuel intake leak, ignition module?? something i could replace once identified or take to my local stealer?

Sounds like timing to me. Could be mechanical, but more likely electrical. If'n I was ta guess, I'd say either the ignition module or the pickup in the cone.
1. Check for spark.
2. Put timing light on and check timing when you crank.
3. Go through the check procedure in the shop manual with the ohm meter on the ignition system (module, pickup, etc.)
4. Check compression.
