2004 Dyna Fuel Issue
I have a 2004 FXDWGi and having a Problem with it quitting on me. Just bought this bike with 14K miles on it. Ran great for 300 miles then Problem started. Bike starts right up after the light goes out on speedometer, while going along motor spits and sputters and stalls. shut bike off, wait 15 seconds, turn bike on , wait for light to go out and will start right up. you might go 1/2 mile and same thing happens. I thought it was a dirty filter so I changed it. Not an easy job. Bike started right up and ran great for 150 miles and now started doing the same thing. sometimes you can go 20 miles and the next time maybe 1/4 mile! Just like it is running out of gas? Today after starting bike twice came to stop sign, went to turn left and just as I let clutch out bike stalled and laid it on its side!! I guess I don't understand how fuelinjection works. would love some input as can't ride bike the way it is.

Sounds like a fuel pressure problem. The lines and regulator in the tank can get pinholes and leaks and will need to be replaced. The best way is to do a fuel pressure check. Or if that's not happening, you can look in the tank (the less gas the better) and hit the run switch to prime the pump. If you can see/hear gas spraying inside you've found the source.

Invest in a fuel pressure gauge. Pressure should go up to about 60 PSI key on and stay above 50 after sitting for a few minutes. Another issue is the fuel line quick connector at the bottom of the fuel tank. The ***** wear into the connector piece on the line.. If pressing up on the bottom corrects the issue, replace the fuel line going to the throttle body.
The engine light should come for about 4 seconds on then go out. If it comes back on for another 4 then goes back out, the ecm will have an error code.
