This was something I wanted to hear........when I was installing a new intake manifold, I just looked at the valve area, and there was oily residue........this has probably been there since I installed a breather bypass at around 5000 miles. I'd like to clean off some of that crap w/o having to remove the heads. Performance isn't lacking, but......

The stuff that's on there isn't going to just come off on its own, with the gas we have down here on the coast......I use 91 (or 93 when I can find it), but it's not doing much from what I saw. I have about 13k miles on the bike, now.......

My lawn mower started surging like it was running lean. I put some, "mechanic in a bottle" in the tank after watching a youtube video. I thought snake oil but dammit, the thing started running better and better. I'm going to sneak some in my ironhead next.

if you use top tier fuel, most of that stuff is not needed. when you do need it it is because a lack of maintenance.
how about 200k miles on a 1974 ch that was rode hard and put up wet but extremely well maintained and still going. to boot i gave weight considerations to the wind so she saw 30 to 60 wt, all series 3 oil for heavy duty industrial machinery.
as far as lawn equipment, i use marvel and howe's and nary an issue, do that mainly because the fuel sets in air tight jerry cans and stays in the equipment for extended periods of time.

I maintain the bikes, and I’m pretty meticulous about keeping things running right. My concern is the “quality” of top tier fuel. Many a time I’ve gone to Shell, BP, and Exxon, just to name a few, only to see a fuel delivery truck from “Bobs Fuel Company” loading up the in ground tanks.

Yeah, I know, maybe just a contract carrier delivering 100% pure fuel from the Shell, BP Exxon supplier, but in todays unscrupulous business environment, I’m a bit suspect.

I’m an old Marine…..I only trust the Marine in the foxholes around me…..everyone else is questionable until proven otherwise.

I have a new M8 ( 1,600 ) mile. It's my first fuel injected bike and had the thought recently you just don't see ( I don't, except online ) fuel injector cleaner / octane boost / fuel stabilizer specific for motorcycles in a small bottle made for a 5-6 gal tank in my local shops.
Doing research I do see a few small bottle products are around from that Redline, to Lucas, to VP, to Amsoil etc but a few will say fuel injector cleaner, or address octane or storage but I would love to see one that does it all or at least see small bottles for motorcycles available at my local auto parts, bike shop or big box! All I can find is online or big bottles local for cars / trucks.

I started using Marvel in my old EVO gas after a mishap that caused my Petcock seals to swell and to get stuck, a few ounces of MMO in the gas tank freed that stuck gas turn off and to this day will make my Pingel petcock smooth as silk. My thought was if its good for those o-rings and rubber parts it will be good for the o-rings and seals in my S&S carb. I think its has been as that carb is now very old and never had a rebuild.
So back then I started using Marvel with a mix of Sta-bil in my old EVO's tank, every tank! The bike simply ran better. Then I started using my gas mix of Sta-bil and MMO ( with pure non-ethanol gas when ethanol started showing up ) in my stored lawn mower (s) gas cans. My old evo and 20 plus year old lawn mowers have never had a drop of ethanol and have had my gas mix from the first tank of gas to whats in the tank now over 2 decades later! My 27 year old EVO Harley gas tank looks new inside, zero rust, no anything, looks new!

Say what you will about my Sta-Bil / MMO pure gas mix but IMO proof is sitting in my garage. The only "negative" is the white ceramic on my EVO plugs has a slight pink tint from the gas additives.
So my question is do I use my gas mix in my new Harley Street Glide M8? I wonder will the injectors need cleaning or will my mix clean injectors as I was using it more for the lube of rubber parts and to keep the gas fresh. Or will my mix clog anything up in a modern bike? No cat to deal with but I do have 02 sensors. I have tried my mix once in my new bike with no ill effect and I expect if nothing else I will store it over the winter months with my mix.

I do wish I could find small bottles of gas products local or in national parts stores ( Walmart, Advance, Auto Zone etc ) for my saddle bag when away from home.
My M8 is octane picky when my old EVO and lawn mowers, not as much.
