Default Redline Fuel System Cleaner

I got a bottle in the oil change kit and only used a half bottle in a tankful of gas. Didn't notice any difference, but was wondering what everyone else thought of it. The bottle states that it is an upper engine and injector cleaner.

Thoughts?

any chemical that can break down carbon that has been baked on in the internal combustion chamber runs the risk of breaking down your seals along the fuel path.

many of the "cleaners" are alcohol of one kind or another.

EPA regs now have cleaners added to pump fuel which will do the same job.

many retailers ( such as costco in my area) advertise "10 times the cleaners".

modern fuel systems ( and ignition systems) are so much better than old carb systems ( I have plenty of both), that adding a bottle of stuff to the gas tank is unlikely to make a huge difference.

Obviously the verdict is questionable, however, just about every Japanese, American and European OEM manufacturer recommends Redline SI-1. I've been using it for years. I think it's top notch.

What kind of difference were you expecting? It is a cleaner not a performance enhancer. Your bike would have to be pretty messed up for you to feel a difference. Use it periodically to keep it from getting real bad and you will never feel a difference.

10 times the cleaners, my Costco advertises 5 times the detergents, I'm getting ripped off.

I recently did the same thing as you with the same results. Red line makes top notch stuff + you couldn't tell a difference = you don't have anything that needed cleaning in the areas it is advertised to work. win/win to me.

I wasn't expecting any performance difference. Just asking opinions from everyone else here since obviously there are many here with much more experience on this.

Just wanted opinions if I should use it or toss it....

Was wondering if it worked as a preventative measure as well....
