And??? It shows a OBDII programmer.... unless you can use this with the SERT software to work on your bike....

Okay.. so it seems you run a hacked version of the SERT software which lets you use the generic adapter to program the PCM. I think this is done by killing the handshaking between the PCM and software. So how does the software know the PCM is ready to accept a command?

If anyone said they got it working, they're lying. There are 2 main chips in the SERT dongle. One is a chip to do the OBDII communication with the bike. This is the "standard" part. It's just OBDII. The second chip, however, contains custom software (which is called firmware) written by the makers of the SERT (TTS). It's this software that communicates with the software on your computer (i.e. the SERT software). This communication protocol is done however TTS decided to do it, it is NOT standard. This means the only way an off the shelf OBDII dongle would work is if it implemented that same communication protocol, which I can assure you, none of them do.

There were some guys on here a while back claiming they have hacked the SERT. I paid $350 for mine so why bother?

Right, but they were still using the SERT dongle. Not an off the shelf OBDII dongle.

They wanted to hack it so if they get a different bike, they don't have to shell out $350 again.

You took my quote out of context. I was saying it's not possible with the hacked version of sert they are talking about. It's possible to reverse engineer the protocol, but the time and expertise needed to do it would make it not worthwhile.
